We now have access to an exciting (ok, well maybe not that exciting for most of you, but useful at least! ) new time conversion tool. Racing in a 25yard pool will produce faster times than swimming in a 25metre pool, which is again faster than a 50m pool. As we train 25yards, 25metres and some people 50m too, it makes comparing results quite difficult. We now have a link to a tool that will convert times for you, so if you do a race in a 25m pool for Leicester League, and want to compare it to your swim from the annual gala, all you have to do is enter the time, along with the event and which pool length you want to convert from and to and it will be able to convert it for you. Whilst I won’t be using this to store results in one form only (i.e converting all to 25yard) as although they can be converted, it is still different in reality, the tool will be useful for comparison and can also be used to check against qualifying times for various swim meets.If you want to have a play, look for the swimcalc link on the right hand menu and have a go converting your PB’s.
