Oadby & Wigston Mary Dodson memorial gala 29-10-11
- A great win and well deserved, a great team effort in a rather long pool and a trophy to boot.
- It’s great getting invited to a memorial gala as it means a great deal for the host club as Mary was a big influence in Leicestershire swimming right from when I was a youngster. (one or two years ago)
- It was a great evening with lots of cheering and shouting from parents and swimmers which again creates a great atmosphere for the team.
- We had twenty eight first places with some great swims, winning 6 out of the first 8 events got us off to a great start. We never looked back after this and forged a comfortable lead throughout the gala, showing the other teams how strong we are.
- In this gala it gave me a chance to give some swimmers an opportunity to swim events they don’t normally swim and this worked well. Also some of the swimmers swam out of their own age group and performed very well, in some cases clearly performing better than our opposition. Brilliant!
- I would have liked to have listed down all the winners but I don’t think I could fit them all on one sheet, but congratulations to everyone who took part and again a big thank you to all the supporters and helpers who make the whole evening memorable.
