we came 4 / 6 great start
- From the start of this gala we had a lot to do with not having a full team missing out on 3 races.I think all of our new swimmers to the diddy team tried really hard and in some cases nerves took over but as long as you tried your best then nobody could ask for anymore. Now you have been selected we expect to see you trying extra hard at training, listening, concentrating and becoming even better swimmers! For the next round (may 9th) you need to practice your starts and finishes remembering not to slow down when are coming to the wall. As for you more experienced gala swimmers between you we had some really good swims producing 9 new pb times.

We had 4 1st places Alex Callender 25m fr, Eleanor Hopewell 50m fr, Alex Callender 25m fly and Natalie king 25m bk. Well done these were very well deserved, lets see if you can keep it up for the next round. We had 1 2nd place Natasha 25m fly lets see if you can get 1st at Ilkeston you were so close to 1st (1.01seconds difference)
- On a sadder note we had several dq’s (you know who you are) a lot of these were for basic mistakes faulty takeovers, stroke technique and false starts. We shall put these behind us for the next round but not make the same mistakes again. Lets try and not get any. Especially you older more experienced gala swimmers. My personal opinion is that in some cases we were judged quite harshly especially over Oliver’s false start. I did lodge an appeal because we could not hear but it was to no avail. _
- On a general note you all must listen to the advice you are given in training and in galas. Some of you need to concentrate on your own individual races making sure you know what you are swimming and where you should be. If you have never been to a gala before then this will come with experience and by the 3rd round you will know exactly what to do so don’t panic._
