What a start to this years County Championships! 6 Shepshed swimmers represented the club during the first evening of competition, with 100%PB rate!
Sophie Tupper kick started the evening in the girls 100m FC, knocking 8 seconds off the time she set this time last year! Well done Sophie. Counties veteran Eleanor Hopewell followed in the next heat, swimming the 100m FC for the first time and setting down a tough mark for Demi Exon in the next heat in her Counties debut. Demi rose to the challange in her first Counties performance with a great swim, looking strong throughout. Alice Cowley (after lots of self-talk) finished off the event also securing a PB, knocking 4 seconds off her pervious PB, a great achievement at her old age
The boys then had the 200m IM, with Jake Spicer starting who had a great swim to knock 4 seconds off a PB only set this January in Sheffield! Matt Wright then stepped up in the final heat of the 200 IM, making the night, not nly by coming 2nd overall, AND getting a PB, but also by getting his Midlands Qualifying time! Well done Matt!
The remaining girls then finished off the evening with the 200 BK. Eleanor Hopewell led off with another fantastic performance, knocking 6seconds from her time last year! With Alice Cowley finishing off (with lots more self-talk and panic!
) achieving her target of finishing in under 3minutes (she swam 2.59.64!), meaning another PB!
Great swims all round and another 2 sessions to look forward to tomorrow!
Well done all
