Can I first say how great it was to see so many of you at the presentation evening! I’ve alway said you can judge the success of these things by how many people are left at the end joining in at the disco, and I’ve got to say the ‘dance floor’ was pretty much full with swimmers and their parents! Although there was some seriously dodgy dancing!:)Swimming is quite an anti social sport as most of the time you have your faces in the water! So it’s great to get lots of you to events like these so you can have fun together, dressed up and without being told off for talking!:)____________________________________________
_____________________________________________I just wanted to write a couple of words about the 3 coaches presentations I made. The girls incentive trophey was presented to Emma Nelson. Emma is a (recently promoted) member of Mini Squad A. She is a very hard working, committed swimmer, and is always smiling….ok apart from maybe when I nag her to kick more and breathe every 3 which is quite often (see it’s even in writing now Emma!) She is a pleasure to coach and a worthy recipient of this years award.______________________________________________
_______________________________________________The boys incentive cup was awarded to Jordan Hardy. Jordan is a prominant member of the junior squad. He trains very hard; even getting told off for training too hard and being too competitive in training!
and improvemets showed with his success at this years annual gala. He hasn’t always been so committed to his training, but has turned his attitude around and is now getting the success he deserves, well done Jordan!_________________________________________________
_________________________________________________Finally I presented this years Coaches Award. I like to award this trophey to someone who I believe is a good role model to the rest of the club. Last year this was presented to Vicky Moore, who’s fantastic attitude to training has remained and improvements are showing, and this year I presented it to fellow Elite Squad member Mark Crook Rumsey. This year, Mark has had arguably his best swimming year to date, though I am sure the best is yet to come! This is all down to the hard work he puts in in training. He has always been told he has talent, but perhaps never believed it, or didn’t care, but with extra focus in training (even asking for extra sessions over the summer!) this year he qualified for the first time in the district championships in 3 events, and even made finals! A massive achievement! The purpose of this award though isn’t to celebrate the fastest swimmers, but those, as I mentioned, that are good role models. Marks’ attitude has got him to district level finals (so far), maybe yours will get you your next PB, win at the Leicester League or swim in the County Championships. So long as you are trying your hardest and doing your best the improvements will show!To finish I did also run through the results of the fun gala. This was a relay event to finish off the season before summer, aiming to bring with it team spirit and team work, and that it did! There were some strange names, and even stranger chants, but you all bonded really well and helped each other out! The winning team was team 42, so well done to them! I also did 4 awards for those nominated by their team captains who stood out in terms of team spirit and hard work, those were Georgia O’Brien (Blue Bricks), Alex Callender (Killer Rubber Duckies), Zoe Ellis (Team 42) and Kyra Blagden (Pink Parahnas). I also made one (final) award to the person who I thought stood out the most. Someone who you probably all know (or at least know her voice!) and that was Jess McGeown. She was a great help on the day supporting her team and does a lot for the club in general so well done Jess.Ok enough of me rambling on, see you all at training!Links:
