SHEPSHED SWIMMERS TO RECEIVE A BOOST FROM MARS REFUEL
Shepshed Swimming Club is celebrating after being selected to receive a donation from a
special sports fund set up by MARS® Refuel chocolate milk drink.
The club provides year round support and focus to local youngsters interested in gaining
skills in the pool. The club is keen to reward its young members, who have shown huge
dedication and positivity.
This is clearly a recipe for success, as members ages range from five to over twenty-five,
with many members returning to the club after attending University. However,
with no current funding, the club struggles financially.
Three teenage members of Shepshed Swimming Club have been selected by the club’s
committee to work towards a Level One Coaching certificate in order for their skills and
excellent attitudes to benefit younger swimmers in Shepshed.
Rachel McGeown, club spokesperson, says: “Without the £500 donation from MARS Refuel,
these teenagers would not be able to afford to pay for the qualification themselves but training
would enable them to teach kids to swim and give younger children from the local community
somebody to look up to.”
The MARS Refuel Fund is delighted to donate £500 in order to ensure that each of the three
Shepshed stars gain the qualification and continue the great work being done at the club.
